assist me with this i am a novice with a big project. my lovely wife wants cove/crown mouldings on the ceilings in our great room. 25'x17' a rectangular configuration, cove moulding is 4 1/2" wide primed mdf and comes in 16' lengths. now the challenge, how to cut them to fit/join together in the corners of the room...i think a compound 45" cut, not sure though and don't want to blow this.. step by step instructions woud be great. many thanks

To cut the corners for crown moulding, you'll need both a compound miter saw & a coping saw to get them to come out nicely. You'll have to check the corners to see if they're square & plumb, don't be surprised if they're not.

Another idea is to install decorative blocks that match your moulding in the corners, I like the way they look, especially in a room with high ceilings, but that's just a personal preference.
