Hi all-

I'm finsihing my basement and I'm just about ready to start the priming and painting. A few questions before I get started....

1) I'm sure if I ask for a good brand of paint to buy, I'll get about 10 different answers, all good ones I'm sure. So to keep it simple-Is there any brand of paint I should AVOID?

2) I'm going to be painting a full bathroom with greenboard. Since it is a "wet" area, especially around the greenboard directly in contact with the tub area (caulk inbetween), what type of primer and paint should I use? I imagine water based primer and paint won't cut it in a wet environment?

Thanks for your time in advance,
Steve

Avoid cheap products.

Latex primer and paint will do fine in the bathroom.

You will find most of us on here recommend paint from a paint store - Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore. There are a few regional brands that are good, too.

Primers - zinsser primers are good (though we have our favorite in their line). Some like Benjamin Moore's primer, too.

Paints to avoid? Any brand sold in a discount house or big box.

I use latex in the bathrooms all the time. I prefer semi-gloss in bathrooms and kitchens. Batroom paints have mildewcide in them. Once the paint dries, getting wet is not a problem.
