I'm part of a start-up masonry buisness. I have a question about mixing mortar in the winter, during freezing/below, or even above freezing teperatures. What are some good guidelines for mixing mortar during cold weather? I have tride some winter accelerator additive. Could they be selling me salt water? It seems like salt would in fact prevent the water in the mortar from freezing, but i realize there is probably more to it. If anyone has tips/tricks/advice, i would appreciate it.

The additives will raise the tempature a few degrees. The motar won't cure properly if it freezes, it will get hard but fail the first year. you have to potect the work from freezing with tarps and blankets and possibly heat.
