We have access from our kitchen to the swimming pool. Unfortunately, everybody seems to take a short cut by cutting through the family room. Would like to replace family room carpet. Given the conditions this carpet will continue to face, is there any material that is better suited than others?

Many carpets will hold up to the traffic but they do not make interior carpet that holds up to moisture. I would lock the family room door.

Is there any way to put a ceramic tile entry or path from the door to the kitchen, that would be pleasing to the eye?

That or putting ceramic tile completely in the family room.
