Does Makita and Bosch sell anywhere at discount prices? Every place I look they seem to be priced at the same amount give or take a few dollars off retail.

I have found that the lower quality the tool, the more they are discounted.
I've been looking for a deal on an 18 volt Milwaukee drill but deals don't exist on these.

I like the way Makita feels & they are a top of the line tool as is Bosch. The Makitas I own are at least 30 days old or less & stopped working.

They are then Factory fixed like a hung brush or whatever they are fixed & you can buy at great saveings. Same warrentee no pretty plastic box yet you can buy one for verry little/

This is how I can own Makita tools & not break the bank. Any dealer can put in an order & when one comes up you get it, the longest I had to wait was a Month on a really nice Router & the dealer had a Box that he threw in.

Hope this helps & most of the best tools do this, if your paient you can save some $$ :D

Good suggestion Miguel.

I forgot about visiting the Delta parts depot last spring.
They had a good assortment of Delta and Porter Cable refurbs with full warranty. Everything was in a box except the big stuff and most of it was a third off and a couple of table saws and a big air compressor was half off.
Too bad I didn't need either.

Thanks guys, I believe I have settled on a brand.
I went to Home Depot this morning and was looking at the refurbished tools that they had on hand when I got a "Good" idea!
I waited around until the guy in charge of the tool section and asked him this question. The guy smiled and said I was the only person to ever ask that question !
He said that Bosch was the long term winner if you went back lots of years with Makita close behind. Then he smiled again and said "but the Ridgid brand had only "ONE" return in the past year, that was a record!!! It was returned because it wouldn't start and run right out of the box.
That has sort of convinced me to get the Ridgid R 2600 palm sander. It has everything the Makita has and more. Hard to argue with the return record!

Another good thing about Ridgid tools is the quick recharge time (20 minutes).

And the lifetime warranty. (I guess they are still offering that, right?)

Someone mentioned Ridgid's lifetime warranty on another forum I use. Like I said there, I would read the fine print on this. It sounds unusual for an electrical tool. Even Craftsman draws the line on elecrtrical stuff.

Check the Ridgid warranty very carefully. With all the changes in ownership the last thing i saw in Fine Homebuilding indicated the lifetime warranty was going away.

Guys in regard to the life time warranty you are right, it is going away. They state that on there web site. the life time warranty is an introductory type thing to some of there tools. My only interest at this point is the ROS R2600 and a Vacuum cleaner.
The lifetime warranty on the ROS goes away on purchases after Jan 1st 2004 which gives everyone just a few days to take advantage! My mind is made up! The vacuum however is another story. I still haven't made up my mind.
