I recently changed my thermostat to a lux 105/2110 series. I had the wires R,O,W,Y and G. All the wires matched up except W, the closest to it would be a w2. When I turn on the heat the AC turns on and runs the same time as the furnace, Is this a wiring issue or something else?

Look at the thermostat ...it sounds to me like you have a heat pump type..if you have An oil or gas furnace, with a A/C coil ... you should only need R,G,Y,W, C.. I dont understand where your getting the W2 from... that for a second stage of heat..

on the thermostat, the only options are R,B,E,O,W2,Y and G, this is a gas furnace, with a A/C coil and the thermostat is a heat pump digital mechanical thermostat.

Hi Bill:
You can't use a heat pump thermostat on a gas furnace with A/C coil type system because a heat pump t-stat runs the compressor in both heating & cooling. You need to buy the right thermostat. Thanks. John.
