I recently relaid brick front steps (actually the border for the steps) that had disintegrated last winter (apparently a common occurence here in NH last winter due to frequent freeze -thaw cycles). On top of the brick border, I poured a concrete slab as a base for 2" granite step & platform. As the concrete cured, some residue dripped down the brick facing.

Two questions:
1. does this mean I put too much water in the Quickrete Concrete Mix? (I thought I followed instructions closely)

2. How do I clean this off the brick face?

Thanks
Jack
p.s. if you tell me I should expect my steps to disintegrate again this coming winter, I may slit my wrists (:>)

Here is some information on cleaning brick.

You might check around locally, but sealing the steps may help protect them from the damage of freezing. We don't have that problem locally.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.
Acid wash did the trick.
