I am about to have carpet installed throughout my home. How much prep work do I have to do? I am wondering how much I need to clear away - I can't move out my furniture

you need to get as much as humanly possible out of they way for rthese guys, they will have to move every peice of furniture to get this carpet in so if you get all you're knick knaks and such out of the way it will make their job a whole lot easier

Floorman is right to have you try and move nix nac;s out of the way. If I were you I would put them in a room they are not installing the floor covering in, such as the bath room or kitchen. Also move out anytghing on the closet floor and fold any long hanging clothes up on another hanger to keep them out of the way.:)

All the bottom of the closet items can be put in the bathtub, long hanging clothes can be moved to the shower curtain rod, and all the knick knacks and brickabracks can all be moved to any countertops. Also remove any items hanging on doorknobs, as the installers will pull most of the doors in the house. There may be a fee for the furniture, or not.

Dont forget to strip the bed linens before as well, and unplug electrical stuff so they can move right away (computer, dvd, tv)
