Hello, Please bear with me. as i am new at this.
I have hired a guy to hang, mud, and tape, on the side. As I have never done this stuff before and want it to look good.
I have helped him hang, tape and mud the first coat and half of the second coat, but he hasnt been back in two weeks to finish, he got hurt at his "day" job. So I have been mudding the rest on my own and I am now out of the mud he has mixed, So here's where I need help. He has used two, 5-gallon buckets of all purpose mix and two boxes of topping. He has been mixing topping with all purpose with water. Anyone ever heard of doing this? If not, what should I use to finish? what kind of ratio should I use ect... The work area is two rooms appx.700 sqft. total, with rounded corners (which took a lot of mud). Asking him would be the easyst but I havent been able to get in touch with him.

I've never heard of mixing different kinds of mud together like your guy has done. I don't use the topping mix, except for spraying texture.

I get a bucket of lite compound and then mix just a bit of water, like maybe a cupful of water. Good luck.

Your guy probably wanted the mud to go farther so he mixed in some topping that was left over. Do as Awesomedell has suggested.
