Bricks, Masonry, Asphalt and Concrete - Concrete deck - want to cover with pressured treated wood

Hi,

We have a concrete deck on the side of the house with steps to a slider. I would like to cover this deck with pressured wood. Is this possible?

Another question to Chfite...Your answer seems to imply that you have done this before. If so, what types of materials did you use and how did you fasten the wood to the concrete?

your building supply store should have bolts that are designed to be inserted into holes in the concrete. you need a hammer drill for this.

Pressure treated wood fastened to the concrete with hilti fasteners, tapcons, lag screws and shields or other expansion bolts. Make it just the same as any other deck, but you can use 2x4 for the joists because it will be supported entirely by the concrete. You could lay them in the manner of a sleeper, since there is no structural need. Of course, check your local building code to see if local requirements vary.

Your concrete surface should drain properly to prevent the wood from sitting in the water to rot.
