We just installed a new AC. This is a new house so we have not used or tested the furnace thus far. The house has a Trane furnace about 10 yrs old. Today as we fired up the newly installed AC. The outdoor condensor comes on but the furnace does not. Intermittently the furnace will kick on but only for 10 seconds or so. We bypassed the thermostate to rule it out. We also tried the heat and the blower kicked on but only stayed on for about 10 or 20 seconds. What is the problem?

Thanks

On a first guess, the run capacitor or run winding on the blower motor has given up the ghost. If it's the cap, it's an under $US 20 part for most systems. If it's the motor itself, $40 to $100+.
