I had the furnace guys out here today and they cleaned my ducts. However they said that my boot and the my registers don't seal well. It would cost $25 a vent x 11 vents. I really can't afford that so I wanted to give it a go myself first.
My plan of attack is to use spackle (normal dry wall spackle to fill in the gaps. If necessary I have the foil duct tape to place over it. any suggestions?
The furnace technician said something about mastic sealing? is that something I can do myself from materials at a Lowes or Home Depot?

Alexa

Could it be that the boots where not put in right. We cut the side of the boots in the corner about 1" up. Bend the sides of the boot out 90o and put it down in the drywall bend what sticks down over on the drywall. The register screws should go up and go into that side tab that is on the other side of the drywall.;) ED
