Hi:

Sanyo 37" TV model DS35750 fell on right side then onto face of tube. The problem is the color on the right side is now messed up. All inputs make no difference.

Before, when in video mode, the entire screen was blue. Now, the left 3/4 remains blue and the right side has 2 colors somewhat thick and bent a bit.

I have the back cover off.

Can this be adjusted? It seems that everything is fairly securely bolted to the back of the tube and my guess is that the guns inside the tube have shifted out of position.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Bob

Drop it on the left side so it evens out the damage... just kidding. I'm probably the only one that ever thinks that joke is funny.

Are the cables that go around the outter edge of the glass still attached on both sides? anything look bent near back?

my guess is that the static magnets may have shifted. the static magnets are on the neck of the picture tube and help converge the electron guns. i think the innermost magnet contols the purity of color, ( all one color ) turn off all the guns but one, and try get the screen mostly one color. once this is done turn all guns back on and try to converge the colors by turning the two outer most magnets till all colors are converged.

it's been awhile since i worked on tv sets, so you may want to double check . there's probably a website that explains it better than I. be careful you are around high voltage . good luck snuffs:)

I suppose if you have been really unlucky and the impact was hard enough, the shadow mask inside the CRT may have shifted. This would mean a CRT (or TV) replacement.

The magnetic rings on the CRT neck may have slipped out of position (as already said). On the CRTs I came across the manufacturers painted a white line across all the rings so it could be seen when they were aligned correctly. This might be worth looking out for.

yea my first thought threesheds was the shadow mask. the manufactors in the us, didn't put a line down the middle, we had to do that ourselves. it was always a major pain to algn the crt. snuffs
