My carport was converted to a room and treated 2x4's attached to the old concrete slab. Before I apply cedar siding how should I treat the exterior 2x4's? So far builder's paper is as far as I've gone. It seems like I should use something to waterproof and how close to concrete should I put the siding. thanks

You could attach wire lath at the bottom 6" to 8" high, and stucco it twice sratch and finish coat. Or try to match the height of the exsisting foundation for a uniform look.
