can you tell me how to properly frame a 45 degree corner in a wall. Particularly how do you get a stud in that location to be the nailer for the drywall ?

I think you might be over thinking this one. Frame your straight wall and install. Frame the next wall and install at the 45. There should be plenty of backing to screw down. You'll probably have to nail the corner since you can't get a screw gun in there.

The two walls are usually framed seperately & then a wedge shaped stud is cut to fit snugly at the corner. This way you have the corner nailer necessary for your drywall and both walls are securely anchored together. Hope that helps.
