Hi-
I'm finishing the taping and mudding of the drywall in my basement project. I'm using 4.5 gallon buckets of light drywall compound. For the third coat, the mud should be thinned, correct? How much should the mud be thinned? For example, how much water should I add to my 4.5 gallon bucket?
Thanks,
Steve
p.s. I'm gonna try that dish soap thing too

Hi Steve,
You're gonna want to add just a little bit of water, and about one good squeeze of the liquid dishsoap. I assume you're using a drill and mixer to mix your mud. Mix it up for a couple of minutes, then lift your mixer up out of the mud, the mud should run off the mixer just a bit, you're lookin for like an oatmeal consistency. Hope that helps out. Good luck. ;)
