Me and the wife are attempting to apply a texture to the ceilings in our upstairs bedroom and den. I planned on using Lightwieght drywall compound and was wondering if I could just add paint to the drywall so this way we wouldn't have to repaint the entire ceiling after applying the texture. Kinda of looking to kill two birds w/ one stone. Can I just add the paint to the mud?

Thanks for the help.

you won't be able to add as much paint as you would need to act as a coat or as a sealer. Sorry you'l have to paint it.

I always spray or roll on 1 coat of PVA primer before texturing. I have added finish paint to knockdown mud, but you still end up spraying on a second coat of finish paint for complete coverage.
