I'm planning on purchasing one of these saws (either the Home Depot or Lowe's $99 job), I've got a few small tiling jobs in mind that will require some diagonal cuts. I've read a few posts here about people having problems with them. I already have a tile cutter and it does a fair job although I'm not 100 % satisfied, the cuts are too rough. Can I expect better results with one of these saws or should I just stick with what I've got?
thanks.

The prices of both the Lowe's and HD saws are similar, but check the specs. I believe the Lowe's saw has only a 1/3 HP motor whereas the HD say is a 3/4 motor (BIG difference). I actually used the HD wetsaw to cut 3/8 marble (approx 300 s.f. w/ a lot of cuts). It performed better than I had expected.

Quite possibly we are talking about two different HD wet saws. I'm not sure they have the same stock in all parts of the country. I live in the southwest, and the saw I got has performed very well. It is a bright yellow "WorkForce" 7" saw. It is made of all metal, except for the plastic water tray. The motor is a 3/4 horse, and the blade speed seemed to do fine cutting through 3/8" polished marble. The only complaint I woule have with this saw is the adjustable guard. I threw that away - it was crap, but the saw itself has done a great job.
