I'm building a wall unit that will have an adjustable glass shelf with dimensions 32" wide by 21.5" deep. It will be supported by two shelf supports on each of the 21.5" sides.

I'd like to be able to support about 10 lbs on the shelf. I'm trying to determine which type of glass to use and what thickness I will need to achieve this.

Thanks.

10 pounds is not terribly heavy, but your best bet will be 1/4" plate glass: Looks great and will support more than enough weight. Will be a little pricey, but worth the extra expense.

My $.02 worth.

Your best bet is to call your local glass company, tell them you want to put items that are about 10 lbs on the shelf, or total weight going on each shelf, then give him the dimensions and they cant tell you how many lbs your shelf size will hold.
