ZigZag, can't find a chopper transistor you mentioned w/c4161 on it .Found one that has irf840 on it.On the power supply board.Please respond,Cecil35.

HI CECIL

it sounds like you have a fet transistor in your power supply.i had a high speed npn transistor.
make sure that this irf840 is on the primary side of the flyback transformer. if it is check to see if it is shorted. there should be another transistor or ic which drives this fet. if you find an ic it is a pwm driven power supply. if it is another transistor it is a prm driven power supply. the prm style is what i had. these components should all be located on the primary side of the flyback. if the irf840 is shorted check for any resistors within that circuit that might be open.
