Hey all, great news, I am on my way to a full set-up system, As of now I have the front door, side door and motion in the basement.

Everything seams to be working great !!!!!!!

One thing that I have come across is the bad wiring I am doing with trying to hook up the resistors to the alarm zone wire.

What is the best way to connect them ?????

Thanks all !!:D

Alarm Techs (well, at least most of them) use B-connectors - similar to an I-connector used by the phone company. These are small "pill"-looking connectors that are only open on one end. You may be able to find some at the local Home Depot or possibly Radio Shack. Or, just stop an ADT guy one day and ask him for some.

If all else fails, use some electrical tape. Just make sure you double-up the wire and cross the resistor over it - then wrap the whole thing in tape (tight, but not much) so that just one leg of the resistor is showing. That should do - typically these wires are not moved around much or tampered with frequently, so that should hold up for a long time. Not the preferred way, but it will work.

Good luck!

In a pinch, the smallest butt connectors (the red ones) will do as a decent pinch hit for a B connector. Just put both wires into one end and crimp that end.

I have used them on purpose when I needed a silicon filled connection, and had no ready source of filled beanies. I just made my connection, and shot silicon into the open end until a little oozed out the other side.
