I used to know how to do it but am having trouble making a copy of a TV show I recorded.
VCR number one has the original tape I want to copy
I have an out audio cord (black) and an out video cord (yellow)going into VCR two which has a blank tape that is fairly new & works properly. The audio black cord from machine one is plugged into the audio in slot and the video out from machine one is plugged into the vido in slot.
I pushed play in VCR number one (has original tape) and pushed record on VCR number two that has the blank in it.
When I play it back there is static & nothing has recorded.
I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
I've reversed the process on the machines & it still doesn't work.
The blank tape does work because as soon as my trial recording is done the show that was on it before starts. The tab preventing tapeovers is still intact.
Please bail me out :)

Did you switch your VCR to video input? The tuner should not be on when you have the video input selected.

No, the tv/vcr button is not the one you want. There is a switch or a menu item that has to turn on the video/audio inout jacks. What brand and model is this?

Depending upon your VCR model you may have one, two or three line in. Mostly they are marked as Line1 (or L1), Line2 (or L2) or Line3 (or L3). On the recording VCR you will have to change the channel input to appropriate input line that you have connected to playing VCR. You can see this when you change channel on VCR....they go from L1, L2, 1, 2, 3,....so on.
Hope this helps.

I'm not familiar with either of those models. but I thought I would try to help anyway.
VCR 1 (Used for playback of original)
Audio Out
Video Out
VCR 2 (Used for recording)
Audio In
Video In
No settings should need to be made to VCR 1 for this setup, just hit play.
VCR (2) should be set to "Line 1", "Line In", "Video" or something similar before you hit record. some ways thiat might work:
-hit "0" twice on the remote
-hit "input" or "Line in" on the remote
-a button/switch on the VCR itself (could be labeled "aux-in" or any of the previous suggestions)
Could you tell us which model you are trying to record on?

I have tried recording on both without success. It makes no difference to me which I record on. Thanks

Try changing channels to see if you can select line1 or line2 as the input source.
Another thing, that I have caught my friends doing is that accidently they connect cable to video/audio out instead of video/audio in on the recording VCR. I am not saying that this is the case here, but might not hurt checking again...;-);-)
