When I moved into my house this system was running only beeping when doors were opened. It was connected to a service.
Anyway, when I had the family room painted one of my family members disconnected the motion sensor and reconnected the sensor when we were done painting. Well, the beeping stopped after it was reconnected. Since, I had just moved in I didn't pay any attention to it. Then the alarm speaker started going off a month later in the middle of the night. I found it in the heat ducts. I unplugged the system. But, it continued to go off. I get fed up and just pulled the wires out of the speaker. I had the company send me a manual but it didn't help much.

Well, now 2 years later I'm wondering what it would take to get the system back running? Since I'm single thedoor monitoring system would be nice.

- Is this something I can repair?
- Is it even worth repairing? Is it out of date?

I'm just not sure where to start???

Thanks,
Shawn

Well, it sounds like you have a bit of a mess now :)

I would start with making sure everything is wired up correctly. Since the motion detector is what initially caused problems - check it to make sure it's wired properly:
1) Red wire should be connected to the 12+
2) Black wire should be connected to the 12-
3) Green/Blue should be connected to the COM
4) Yellow/White should be connected to the NC

If there is a resistor inside the motion, make sure it's in series with either the Yellow or Green wire.

Now, wire the siren back up (even if you don't want to use the alarm, you'll have to wire up the siren to keep the system from beeping for a siren trouble.) Red to red - black to black.

If the battery is still plugged in, then it's probably dead by now - you'll have to replace it (or listen to the beeping.) About $20-30 at Radio Shack.

Then you should be able to plug the transformer back in. When you power back up, you'll have to set the time again (or the panel beeps.)

If you have any troubles, let me know what they are (press *2 and tell us what numbers light up) and we'll go from there.

Good luck!
