We have just moved into the lower half of a house, nobody lives upstairs.. There are 2 cable outlets in the living room, then we head down the hallway. The first bedroom has cable, so does the next one. Of course I dont have an outlet in my room. Is there a way to install a cable outlet whereever I want it??
It is within 8 inches of an electrical outlet if that helps. Or can I fish it from my sons room into mine-maybe through the ceiling?
I am very new at this so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks all

If you just moved in you should have called the cable people and told them to install it in your room only. They would have done the job just to get you as a customer. Then it would be easier to modify it to your application.
Well now you have to do-it-yourself. Take a string and run run it from the nearest cable connection to your tv. Now you have to hide it.
Is there a closet that is commen? Do you have to go under the rug?
Drill a hole and come up from under? You will have to determine the best route available. You will have to drill some holes if you want to hide it.
If you don't want to do-it-yourself most cable people charge $60 to install a new outlet.

Your best case sceneario would be your room sharing the common wall with the room of an existing cable outllet. otherwise its not very practical to try and cross over in the ceiling. Another possibility would be to "T" off your cable connection outside your house and run it directly to your room. you,ll have to drill a hole through the wall. By the way, twist on cable connectors are the way to go. Good luck to you. Bob.

:) I own a drill and am quite daring....;)
I'm not sure which route I'll take though...but thanks all for the info!

One suggestion....
It sounds like you are RENTING the lower unit. Is this the case? If so, make sure your LL is ok with whatever you do. He/She may not appreciate the idea of you drilling a whole through the wall like that.

If you are renting, let the LL do it! TOO easy to make a mistake.
