I have cut the carpet out that runs to my back door. I have cut a 3' x 5' area. I am laying tile in that area that will butt right up to the carpet remaining. I put tack strip under the edge of the cut carpet and am attempting to attach the carpet to the tacks. I can not get it to attach. I have the tacks pointing away from the carpet, like I believe it should be done. Afraid to do much hammering as I may flatten the tacks. Can anyone help me?
Thank you!

place the strips 1/4" from the tile and nail them down. Don't worry about bending a couple of pins there's alot of them there. use a knee kicker to stretch the carpet up onto the tackstrip pins. Trim the carpet so it is 1/8" over the edge of the tile. Tuck the extra 1/8" of carpet into the gulley between the tile and tackstrip.

Thank you! I do not have a knee kicker. Any way else to do it with maybe a hammer?

You could rent one. You can purchase one from Harbor Freight for $20.00.

Don't forget to squirt some sort of adhesive into that 1/4in gap between the tile and tack strip. Elmer's school glue will work.
