I just bought a Simon III wireless security system (60-875) made by GE Interlogix from a private party. This Simon system has been factory programmed to Monitronic specs, e.g. phone lock ON, Doenloader phone number, etc. I was able to programe everything except options for changing phone numbers. I used code 4321 to add sensors etc but this code does not recognize the option #4 to change the phone number. I also tried code 6321. Any help how to lock Monitronic panel? I'll really appriciate any help. Thanks.

I seriously doubt you'll find the lock-out codes for Moni - I've done service work for them for about 3 years and I still don't have them.

If you bought off of Ebay, make sure you leave negative feedback on the seller (unless the ad specifically states that it's a Moni panel <i>and</i> that you won't be able to reprogram some options.) You could also try contacting them, to see if they have the info.

If you find out, I'd love to know - I have 2 panels right now that are Moni Simon 3's that I can't get into.

Good luck!

Yeah I left the negative feedback for the seller. The seller didn't tell anything about Monitronic system and that the sytem is locked etc. He actually used a different picture of SIMON system and not Monitronic.

I am wondering if the phone number option (Option#4) is permanently burned into the system ?

No, I don't think it's burned, just "locked-out" with a dealer code.

You could always try all 10,000 numbers

Last I heard, the number started with a 9, but it could have been wrong. (maybe 93?? - just a guess.)

Sorry I can't be of more help.

I aminterested in finding out how you are 'locked-out'.

Can't these panels be powered down and brought back up in a default mode to reprogram?

"Anticompete lockouts" are a legacy of the days when alarm hardware was generally leased instead of being owned by the site owner. Some of those old alarm contracts are "interesting" reading. Among other things, they gave the monitoring center the ability to disable the system from the remote location if the bill was not paid.

Sometimes, in very high security installations, such lockouts are used to defend against the possiblilty of a criminal with an installer's knowlege and skills.

More recently, most alarms are installed so that you either pay for the hardware up front, or you own it free and clear at the end of the initial monitoring contract period.

Some panels are easier to default or bypass straight into program mode than others, but nearly all still have some feature where local program access can be locked out absolutely. Most installers don't use them because they are often more hassle than the account is worth.

A good rule of thumb, is if there is a custom logo on the system, there is a higher chance of control access being restricted.
