Im about to wire a few rooms in my house with some quad sheild rg6 cable. My question is this:

I will be punching holes in the wall for the cable to come through. I have boughten wall plates for the cable. How to i mount the wall plate to the wall? Does it just screw right to the sheet rock or is there suppose to be a box behind it sort of like an electrical box. It looks like it would fit a standard electrical box but if it is not needed then why bother. I just dont want to ruin my walls. Im afraid if i screw it to the sheet rock it will pull out and be an eye sore. Can you use small sheet rock anchors for this?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

thanks

Go to your local Home Depot or Lowes. They should have either a metal plate thta is used for telephone wiring or I have also gotten some "old rork" boxes that are specifically for low voltage wiring applications. The have the back taken out of them. Barring them, just use a normal 'old work' box

Go to your local hardware store. They sell a blue box(receptacle box) that will flush mount into your wall just like a receptacle box. All you have to do is cut the hole the size of the box run you cable through the box put it in and turn 2 screws to tighten it to the wall then add your wall plate then you should be gtg.
