I built a chase around a 10ft length of 4" PVC pipe (septic) in the basement and would like to know the best way to insulate for noise? Should I just pack it as tight as I can with fiberglass insulation? Since it is below ground level, I am not too concerned with keeping it warm...just quiet.

Pack it in, the tighter the better with fiberglass insulation.
