MY PROBLEM IS:

How do we make footings, that will be submerged in water, for a deck?

I am trying to plan a deck/patio for the back yard.

The yard is on a lake, and we are trying to extend the deck partially over the water.

The footings we are having trouble with would want to be beyond the natural rock shoreline of the yard under 2 feet of water, somehow.

THE WATER LEVEL OF THE LAKE IS LOWERED IN THE WINTER FOR SUCH PROJECTS, so the work will not happen under water, but the lake bottom is likely to not be very supportive.

Thank you for any ideas.

The best way is to drive pilings. They are driven with a pile driver (of course!) and are driven until adequate resistance is developed, then cut off. Ask others who have docks how they where installed.
