I turned on my heat tonight and the "emergency heat" light came on, even though the switch wasn't set to emergency heat. I pushed the switch to emergency heat and the unit stopped. I switched it back to aux heat and it still wont work. The AC wont work either. The system will not come on or do anything! It is a Trane, not sure of the model #. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Evan

I thought you couldn't stop a Trane.
Check all the circuit breakers. If the indoor fan isn't running, you will get a problem with the outdoor unit from that. It may go off on a high pressure safety. The fan should run when you set the fan switch to On. If not, you either are not getting power to the unit or you have a relay or fan motor or capacitor problem.

Have you changed the batteries in the stat lately? Dead, defective, or low batteries will make it act up.
