I have almost finished a covered screened in porch. Just layed a 1x6 pine tongue and groove floor.(looks beautiful. much better than carpet). The under sides, grooves, and ends were painted with a exterior oil base primer. I was going to do the same to the top and then 2 or 3 coats of exterior oil base final coat, however I am considering staining with a minwax type wipe on stain and then protecting with polyurethane, marine poly or something of the like. Is this feasible ? During hard rains one small section might get a little spray.

Exterior stains and finishes do well outdoors. Shaded and kept out the rain, for the most part, and they will last a long time. If you decide to paint, use a porch and floor enamel for durability.

Hope this helps.
