Cost Of Having A/C Compressor Installed?

My parents are going to give me a 2 ton a/c compressor unit from an upgrade they did. The unit is 2 years old.
Anyway, my house that I'm closing on at the end of the month only has central heat. I know that I'll have to purchase an air handler to get it installed. However, I was wondering what should I expect to pay to have someone come and install it?
Also, is there anything I should watch out for with this retro fit. Also, is there any possibility that this won't work (i.e. the a/c can't be added to my existing system)?
Sorry for so many questions.

I'm no expert, but I'm sure the first question will be - Do you have forced air heat? If not, you will also need ductwork.
