I have two windows I'm going to replace. The house has 50 year old wood windows. Both new windows will be:
Casement/Picture/Casement
I'm trying to decide on Renewal by Andersen replacement windows or a complete tear out with replacing the whole window, including the frame. The two rooms where this will be done are both finished plaster with wood trim around the windows. The outside of the house is sandstone.
-Any opinions on which would be the best choice?
-How good are the Renewals?
Three years ago I replaced two double hung windows in a gutted room with new Andersen windows. Full windows including the frames, not replacement windows. Will the Renewals look the same and have the same one-piece screen as the Andersens I have now? Thanks.

Obviously there will be some differences between your dbl hung Anderson's and the casements. Yes, both will have full screens, but the dbl. hungs have outside screens, and the casements are inside screens. In some respects they will look the same (both the same color, etc.) But there will be differences as well -- A dbl hung looks like a dbl hung, with the horizontal line where the sashes join. A casement won't have that line.
Like virtually all window mfgrs, Anderson offers several lines. Some lines have thicker frames than their others. If you know which model or line of Anderson's you used a few years ago, use that same model or line, and the frame thickness will be the same.
