I have an 1,800 sq ft two-story home. The upstairs is very hot. My husband wants to take in the walk in attic which will add 200 sq ft and more heat. We have talked to 2 A/C people, one says to add a 2 ton unit for upstairs ...2,500 to 3,000 $. The other suggested zoning...1,600. The unit is approximately 10 yrs old it is a 2 1/2 ton. Which makes more sense? Is 2 1/2 ton enough to cool the house or will it be totally overworked and have to be replace? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
