My order of 11 boxes of Bruce 3/4 maple hardwood arrived, but I won't be installing for a few months. After unloading from the car into the garage, I thought that might not be a good idea.

I understand about acclamating to the room (48-72 hours prior to installing) but what about long term? Currently I have two stacks (one 5 and one 6 boxes high) sitting in the room which they will be eventually installed (boxes unopened).

Would rather have them in basement or garage, but leary about sitting on concrete floor. Also didn't want to expose wood to dampness of basement or climate of garage (garage is insulated, but not heated - weather is starting to get cold.)

So if it is best for the floor, I will leave it stacked in the original boxes in the dining room. The hell with company and thanksgiving!!

Thanks!

Dave

I would think it's OK as long as there is no stress on the wood, like if it was not supported evenly. I was under the impression that hardwood was stored differently than common wood so that it would acclimate quicker once on site. Could be wrong though...
