I have a 3 ton a/c unit that was destroyed by dog urine. I have purchased a new one and would like to install it my self.

Unless yours is a very unusual installation, you are going to need a pro. Such a condensing unit replacement involves recovering the system freon, soldering the new unit in, and charging and balanceing the system again.

Many of the materials cannot even be purchased unless you have the proper licenses or certifications.
