I'm looking to install a floor where carpet was. Room is over crawl space with good subfloor condition. What are the pros / cons of the 3 types available to me? I place to install myself.

Appreicate any / all info.

What will look best in your home and what can you afford? What is the climate where you live?

The crawl space will require mitigation due to moisture if you use a wood or wood product floor.

I'm in coastal Virginia. Floor will be over an insulated crawl space. Carpet was in room until recently. Subfloor is in good shape. I'm looking at the 3/8" engineered products (with top ply hardwood). Using a vapor barrier, do I need the foam padding layer typical with Pergo-like floors?

Thanks
