I am having rough sawn cedar siding hung on my house within three weeks. It is October in Michigan and about 40 degrees mid-afternoon. I was told that the sealant can be heated before applying since nomally it needs to be applied in 50 degree temps or more. Is this true? Any other advice?

Ordinarily, the ambient temperature needs to be 50 degrees or above in order to apply finishes. Heating the finish won't make the siding warmer. Perhaps you could finish the panels indoors before they are installed.
Hope this helps.
