I have a home in northern Michigan built in 1995. This home has forced propane heat and a crawl space. In 2001 someone suggested that I insulate the space with 1" styrafoam on the cement block walls and add R 19 batting to the joist . I did all that and now have 2nd thoughts if I did the right thing or not. The house now seems colder in the winter and the crawl space is a lot warmer. The duct work for the furnace runs in the crawl space and I am afraid that I am trapping too much heat down there. Can anyone help me out with this problem.

WE do all of the jobs this way. and the gov. also said to do it this way. A 6 mil-poly down on the ground over lap it 2' tape all seams .go up the wall with it 2'. Put 2" polystyrene on the walls on up to the joist line.Close and seal all vents with this poly. now take and cut R19 blocks to fit in the joist space there up on the sill plateand go all around the sill plate in the home. put 2 small outlet in the duct work and 1 return if you can.;) ED
