i am installing 3/4 inch by 2 1/4 inch tongue and groove oak flooring over a 3/4 inch osb subfloor. it is over a full basement that is not heated in tennessee. i am using felt paper for a vapor barrier. my question , is it a good idea to leave off the felt paper close to the doors of the room and glue the hardwood to the subfloor?? any response would be appreciated. thank you

but from what I know that's a real bad idea.

Several reasons. One you are putting an immovable object in the floor. When the wood absorbs moisture and expands, it will hit the solid object. They key to floors is letting them move a little, and making room for it, but firmly attaching it to the sub floor.
It would be like saying if nails 10 inches apart are good, one every 5 inches would be twice as good...not true
Second 3/4 inch material is not suitable to glue.
There are enough pros here, one will eventually correct any mistake I've made.
The #1 Rule is follow manufacturers instructions to the letter and do not improvise or take shortcuts.
Rule #2 is if the instructions are not clear, ask them first, not bozos like me. If you have not got the material yet, check out manufacturers web site of a good prospect or NOFMA (industry association) or http://www.woodfloorsonline.com
#3 People are always willing to offer bad advice for free when it does not matter to them, be healthy sceptical of anything not consistent with rule 1

thank you that sounds like good advice.
