I want to change my digital t-stat to an old style honeywell round one. Kind of weird, I know, but the wall my 'stat is on is full of antiques and it really looks out of place. Is this practical with a heat pump? I know that my t-stat has a light that comes on when the strip is hot but is the 'stat any different from a conventional one?
Thanks.

You won't be able to get a round Honeywell thermostat (T87) that will be able to control your heat pump. You need 2 stages of heat and one stage of cooling. The T87 only has one stage of heat and cool.

Thanks. Are there any other options for an "old" looking tstat?

My only idea would be to get a new one and have someone paint it to look old. Like the antique brass look or something. Sorry if thats corny but other than hiding it, you don't have much choice.

can you move it to the other side of the wall? i mean can you use a long screwdriver or something to poke a hole to the other side of the wall then fish the wire through the new hole on the other side?

Or like Ken said paint it . How about you get a thermostat guard for it and paint it. They come in clear and some in metal. you dont have to lock it:D ED
