Gas and Oil Home Heating Furnaces - Water in ductwork

Thanks again. You made an excellent point regarding the possiblity of rust forming and causing even more problems than we already have. Unfortunately the sump pump isn't something that would work in this case because it would have to be placed right in my dining room or living room to drain this area and as this is the Chicago area placing the pit outside isn't an option because of the winter temperatures. The only other thing we could think of was to break up the floor inside over the ductwork and somehow replace it - but how. You asked what kind of system we had - it's a Carrier, gas, forced air with Carrier air conditioning both of which we intend to replace this year. Thank you for taking the time to answer.

To take the floor up and put new duct work under it . Is money down the drain here.You have to stop the water or keep it out of there first. Do you have a cabinet in the kitchen or a closet inside that you could put a sump pump and pipe it out side. Look around there the water has to come from some where. Are all the units the same???? does some one have a high water bill and there is a leak in the water pipes. could you have a leak in the water pipes there? Dont go new till you get the water stopped. The new AC will take the water out of the air for you and then the air in the pipes will pick it right up again. The floor will be damp all the time so the AC cant work right for you.
