I want to construct a pergola over the front entry of my house. The house has concrete walls-45 years old- 8 " thick with a 4" foam insulation outside and stucco finish. How do I fasten the 2 verticle upright columns against the house? I'm probably going to go with 8X8"X 10' uprights and 2X6 slats on edge extending out to the cross piece held by the outer uprights.

I have a rotary hammer and I have used the masonry inserts(drill a 3/8" hole for a 1/4" fasterner) to skrew into. What kind of spacer/extension might I use to attach to the concrete wall through the foam?

It might be less of a hassle to make it free-standing.
