we are painting our hall way and stairs going to the second floor the walls are texture and i dont like it i want smooth wall is there an easy way to smooth the walls and get rid of the texture before i paint or is it going to be way too time consuming i would like to have this done in 3 weeks

Depending on the type of texture, you have 2 reasonable options.

A) Float out the walls with joint compound until smooth

B) Hang a liner type paper, float seams, and prime/paint over that
