Replacing wall-to-wall with area rug in dining room. Two open doorways, one to kitchen & one to living room are causing problems. Both openings have neither door nor thresholds. Current carpet (to be torn up) extends through kitchen doorway and butts up against sheet vinyl with metal flange securing carpet. Carpet extends half way through doorway to living room, and is joined to living room carpet with tape. Tack track is used around perimiter of dining room. How do I secure the living room wall-to-wall and the kitchen vinyl once the dining room carpet is taken up?

The same way that the carpet is transitioned to the vinyl, as it is now.
