We are trying to refinish our hardwood floors. But the person who owned the house before us had put down a shag rug in the 60-70's and barely vacumed when we pulled the rug up the matting stuck to the floor and we have just finished sanding the floors and the heavily traveled areas are really dark alost a pale black and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to get that out. Thank You

Board replacement will be your only option. When moisture is trapped between the pad and the floor wether it be pet stains or water. The only way to remove them is by board replacement . if they are in a central high traffic area throw down a rug if you don't want to deal with replacement.
