I'm refinishing my cabinets. I found a great paint color-a lady at Lowe's said to primer them with Kilz (water-based), paint them with American Standard latex paint and cover it with a polycrylic (water-based). I tested it out on a scrap piece of wood that i had lying around, and after a week of drying, I couldn't scratch it with a nail. But that was a bare piece of wood, and I'm using a product called CitriStrip to get all the old varnish off the cabinets. I'm then sanding them to remove every last trace of stain. The CitriStrip doesn't say that it's oil-based, but the directions say to clean it up with mineral spirits. My question is, do you think that my paint is going to crack and peel because it's latex might clash with the stripper? Is there anything I can do to prevent this?

Removing the stripper with mineral spirits will leave a clean surface. Mineral spirits does not leave a residue when it evaporates. The stripper should remove the stain as well as the finish. Hav ing a clean surface will help everything perfom as expected.
Take care with over enthusiastic sanding so that you don't sand through the veneer on the cabinets.
Hope this helps.
