We are renovating our very old bathroom, and I want a fan IN the shower -- not just the ceiling in the bathroom, in the tub/shower area itself.
DH insists we cannot do this because the ceiling is only about 7 feet high. Is he right or can we have the fan installed in the ceiling over the tub?

I'm pretty sure it's against code...maybe someone will know for sure...
I am also remodeling a bathroom and my brother who's an electrician said it was against code. He also said many people do it anyway without problems, but who knows...
Do you have a window in the bathroom? Do you have a vent outside of the shower?
