I am going to paint the outside of my house before the weather gets cold. Right now the temps are in the low 80's high 70's and cool nights. I read the article about preperation and found it very useful, thank you. Now my question is, are multiuse paint and primer all in one products a good deal to use? I figured 2116 square feet exterior space, will 7 gallons cover the area? I already have enough trim paint, just want to be sure I have enough to cover the large area.

Ready to paint? 2116 square feet = 5+ gallons.
Paint and primer are not the same thing. Whereas some self-priming products for metal have merit, house paint is not one of those. If you need to prime, buy a top quality primer. The same for paint, top quality.
Hope this helps.

There is a self priming paint that has merit and that is Sherwin-Williams Duration. It bonds to raw wood, metal and most anything else and drys SEVEN mils thick versus 2-4 for regular paints. Though no substitute for oil primer and new latex paint in the worst cases its great if you have some light scaling and the overall picture isn't to bad .....Mike
