i'm planning redoing a bath, and am trying to decide to do tile or a surround.

problem is, i like the look of tile, except the mold/mildew, and i'm not willing to clean it every time i use the tub. i guess i should say i like the look of tile, when the spaces in between are white.

anyway is there a way to prevent the mold and mildew from forming, or should i just use a fiberglass or plastic or whatever they are made of surround?

You can apply a sealant to the new grout to prevent mildew.

They make a tub surround that looks like tile these days.

Check out your big box stores or visit some bath websites to get a good selection.
